Dozee Launches ‘Dozee Pro’- A Contactless Remote Patient Monitoring Solution for Hospitals Amidst Rising Demand

Chennai, 3 March 2021: Dozee, a pioneer in Contactless Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) solutions announced the launch of Dozee Pro, a Contactless Vitals Monitor for hospitals. The Dozee Pro features an AI-powered triaging system that converts any bed into a step-down ICU in under 2 minutes and enables remote monitoring of patients outside of the ICU.

Dozee is seeing an increased adoption of its new RPM solution with over 70 hospitals across India partnering with the startup in less than 3 months. It has deployed 4000 devices in hospitals to monitor patients continuously and to help them enhance patient care and clinical outcomes. Dozee has monitored over 16,000 patients, helping save the lives of more than 250 by early identification of risk and health deterioration. Dozee expects to partner with more than 500 hospitals and monitor an additional 200000 patients in the next 12 months.

Dozee Pro enables the continuous (more than 100 times per hour) and accurate monitoring of a patient’s heart rate, respiratory rate, and other clinical parameters like sleep apnea, myocardial performance metrics without coming in contact with the patient. It comes with an industrial grade contactless sensor, communication pod and cloud-based patient monitoring tool with an AI-powered triaging system which captures real-time body vitals, and provides round the clock monitoring for patients who were previously manually monitored only every couple of hours. The Dozee Pro also features an extensible platform where it integrates with other devices such as SPO2 sensor, ECG and temperature sensor to provide the entire suite of vitals parameters including oxygen saturation, body temperature and ECG.

The Dozee Pro captures 250 data samples per second and gives a reading every 30 seconds. This consistent stream of patient data aids the medical staff with early detection of patient deterioration and notifies the care team of any abnormalities before it becomes critical. Doctors & healthcare teams can remotely monitor the patients’ health from the centralised patient monitor, where at a time, hundreds of patients can be monitored from the web-dashboard and also from a mobile phone app. Custom alerts can be put on every patient, helping doctors optimise treatment plans, focus on deteriorating patients and provide improved proactive care.

Made in India, Dozee Pro has been launched with a 98.4% medical grade accuracy after successful clinical trials conducted with over 1000 subjects at NIMHANS and Sri Jayadeva Institute. Apart from its use in hospitals, Dozee Pro also allows healthcare providers to remotely monitor patients’ vital signs, receive updates and deterioration alerts from home and other care settings outside the hospital. The solution includes an integrated early warning system for patients in the post-discharge, outpatient settings and hospital-level home care settings. Dozee Pro helps patients, their family members, and healthcare providers with real-time data and alerts, enabling early identification of clinical deterioration.

The COVID-19 pandemic has brought to fore both the challenges and the opportunities of the healthcare sector in India. The country has 2 million hospital beds and only 100,000 ICU beds. Coupled with the shortage of trained nursing staff, it is impossible to keep an active watch on the health of all the patients continuously, especially outside the ICU. Currently, there aren’t many low cost, easy to deploy solutions which help the hospitals monitor patients in wards. Even today, nurses manually visit patients every couple of hours to measure the vitals. Without continuous monitoring, any deterioration in a patient’s health can go unnoticed and lead to complications. Even though RPM has been in use in other countries, in India it is still at a nascent stage. According to reports, the Global Remote Patient Monitoring Market is expected to be valued at USD 2.14 Billion in 2027 from USD 786.4 Million in 2019, registering a CAGR of 14.1% through the forecast period. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has pushed healthcare practitioners towards remote patient monitoring technologies in India and also globally.

“As doctors our first objective is always providing better care for our patients and to deliver better health patient outcomes. The pandemic made it imperative for us to offer the best possible remote care while safeguarding our staff. Dozee played a crucial role in ensuring we could manage the load effectively by helping us provide care to 150 patients at a time remotely. We are now using Dozee in other areas of patient care where even outside the ICU, we are able to provide 24/7 care and monitor them for any health deterioration.”
