Chennai, April 10, 2026: Capstone Multi-Speciality Clinic has introduced dedicated Adult & Travel Vaccination Services, underscoring the growing importance of adult immunisation as a critical component of preventive healthcare. While vaccination is often associated with childhood immunisation, medical experts emphasise that protection against several infections remains equally vital in adulthood. Immunity can wane over time, particularly after the age of 50, increasing vulnerability to infections and related complications. Despite this need, adult vaccination rates in India remain alarmingly low. Studies suggest that coverage for key vaccines—including those for influenza, pneumococcal disease and hepatitis B—remains below 2% in the general population. Among adults aged 45 years and above, uptake is estimated at around 1.5% for influenza, 0.6% for pneumococcal vaccines, and approximately 1.9% for hepatitis B and typhoid vaccines, highlighting a significant gap in preventive care.
