MGM Group of Hospitals Conducts Basic Life Support (BLS) Training to Boost Cardiac Emergency Awareness on Republic Day 2026
Chennai, 24 January 2026: In a landmark public health and community preparedness initiative, MGM Healthcare rolled out a citywide Basic Life Support (BLS) training programme across 77 locations on Republic Day 2026. The initiative concluded with the felicitation of trainers who played a pivotal role in delivering one of the largest coordinated community life-saving efforts, empowering citizens with essential first-response skills and strengthening a culture of emergency preparedness. India is witnessing a concerning rise in sudden cardiac arrests, including among younger adults. Recent data indicate that over 25% of heart attacks occur in individuals under 40, while 15–20% of sudden cardiac arrest cases affect those below 50, underscoring a growing public health challenge.
