Chennai, May 19, 2026: The Special Court for CBI Cases has quashed the last pending Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) case filed against Ahmed Buhari and his associates, bringing to a close a series of cases initiated by central investigative agencies over alleged coal import irregularities. CC No. 1/2022, passed orders on April 28, 2026, quashing the pending case. With this development, cases filed earlier by the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), and Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Buhari and others have reportedly been quashed by judicial forums including the CESTAT Mumbai, the Delhi High Court and the Madras High Court.
