Chennai, 10 April 2025: Apollo Hospitals, OMR, successfully performed a highly complex knee reconstruction surgery on a 16-year-old male patient who sustained a critical open fracture of the patella (kneecap) following a road traffic accident. The patient, a promising cyclist, made a remarkable recovery and won a silver medal at the National Under-16 Cycling Championship held in Puri, Odisha—an extraordinary outcome that underscores the clinical excellence and multidisciplinary approach at Apollo Hospitals. The young patient was brought to Apollo OMR hospital with a severely comminuted fracture of the patella caused by a motorcycle accident in which he was riding pillion.
