SIMS Hospitals Makes History with India’s First Keyhole Left Ventricle Tumour Removal

Chennai, December 10, 2025: SIMS Hospitals has successfully performed India’s first endoscopic removal of a left ventricular tumour, a rare keyhole cardiac surgery that avoids breastbone cutting. The minimally invasive procedure was done on a 45-year-old working woman diagnosed with a 1.6 × 1.5 cm mass inside the heart’s main pumping chamber. Instead of the conventional sternotomy-based open-heart surgery, SIMS adopted an endoscopic approach using small rib-space incisions to access and remove the tumour.
