Chennai, August 13, 2025: Tamil Thalaivas today announced Pawan Sehrawat as the Captain and Arjun Deshwal as the Vice-Captain for Season 12 of the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL). The announcement marks the beginning of a new chapter for the team as it sets its sights on glory. Widely celebrated as the High Flyer of PKL, Pawan Sehrawat is one of the most dynamic players in the league’s history. He became the most expensive player in PKL when Tamil Thalaivas signed him for ₹2.26 crores in Season 9. Representing the Reserve Bank of India, Pawan has also brought pride to the nation, winning the gold medal at the 2019 South Asian Games and the 2023 Asian Kabaddi Championship. Chennai, 7th August 2025: MGM Healthcare successfully performed a reduced monosegmental living donor liver transplant on a 5-month-old, 8 kg infant from Krishnagiri who was suffering from severe jaundice due to Crigler-Najjar syndrome type 1- a rare genetic condition affecting the function of the liver. After the 10-hour long surgery, the young patient recovered well and was discharged in 14 days. Crigler–Najjar syndrome affects only one in a million newborns, in which the liver is unable to break down bilirubin, a substance produced from the breakdown of red blood cells. Without a liver transplant, affected children face a very high risk of permanent neurological damage, kernicterus, liver cirrhosis and liver failure. Standard management with phototherapy often fails to control bilirubin levels, not allowing the patient to sustain for a long time. Chennai, 8th August 2025 : Sri Ramakrishna Hospital, a leading healthcare institution in Tamil Nadu has set a new world record for receiving the highest number of organ donation pledges in a three-month period. It received a remarkable 45,861 pledges between February and April 2025, a record officially certified by the World Records Union.  The official citation was presented to the hospital management at a special ceremony held at the ITC Grand Chola on Friday, August 8, 2025.
