Speaking on the occasion, R. Boomee Nathan said the institution is among the first in South India to offer students hands-on training at international airports as part of their academic curriculum. He highlighted that the college’s infrastructure, including a real-life aircraft model and a miniature airport, enables immersive practical learning. He also noted plans to expand the institution’s presence across India, including a proposed campus in New Delhi.
Highlighting industry demand, he said the aviation sector is expected to require 1.5 to 2 lakh skilled professionals by 2035 across roles such as pilots, cabin crew, engineers and ground staff.
Under the MoU, students enrolled in degree and diploma programmes will complete their initial training in Chennai before moving to Malaysia for the final phase. This includes six months of academic training at UniCAM followed by a six-month internship at Malaysian airports, offering valuable international exposure and hands-on industry experience.
The institution offers programmes such as a Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation, B.Sc. in Air Transport, and Diploma in Aviation and Tourism Management, all aligned with global industry requirements. It also provides International Air Transport Association (IATA) training at no additional cost—an initiative that distinguishes it from many other institutions where such certification involves significant fees.
Officials said the collaboration aims to equip students with industry-relevant skills, global exposure and practical experience, strengthening their readiness for careers in the rapidly evolving aviation sector. The college also continues to support students through initiatives such as education loan assistance, part-time job opportunities and strong placement integration.
