The expansion is part of Vi’s broader strategy to extend its 5G network to 133 cities across 17 priority circles in India. The company is focusing on key markets such as industrial hubs, high data consumption centres and emerging urban clusters. Cities like Coimbatore, Salem and Tiruppur are recognised as major industrial centres, while Vellore is known for its healthcare and education ecosystem. Tiruchirappalli serves as an important commercial and educational hub, and Puducherry continues to attract attention as a prominent tourism and cultural destination.

To enhance network performance, Vi has partnered with Nokia to deploy energy-efficient infrastructure. The company has also implemented AI-powered Self-Optimising Networks (SON) to improve service quality and ensure seamless connectivity for users.

Commenting on the development, Sai Venkataraman, Circle Business Head – Tamil Nadu, Vi, said the company is accelerating its 5G rollout across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, building on its presence in Chennai and Madurai. He noted that increasing adoption of unlimited data plans, including Vi’s Non-Stop Hero offerings, is driving higher data consumption, and reaffirmed the company’s focus on delivering a superior network experience.

As part of its continued investment in the state, Vi also announced a three-season partnership with Chennai Super Kings as the team’s Official Communications Partner. The collaboration will support grassroots cricket development through the Super Kings Academy and include fan engagement initiatives such as the Vi Fan Fest. The campaign will offer fans opportunities to win match tickets, exclusive merchandise and participate in interactive experiences both online and in stadiums.
