Book Launch: “Autism Unlocked” by Dr. Akila Palani Celebrates 25 Years of Dedication to Autism Therapy
Chennai, November 3, 2025: The Anna Centenary Library hosted the launch of “Autism Unlocked: A Parent’s Guide to Early Intervention, Therapies, and Inclusion” by Dr. Akila Palani, a distinguished therapist and advocate for children on the autism spectrum. The event was attended by eminent personalities including Mrs. M. Lakshmi, IAS, Commissioner for the Welfare of the Differently Abled, and Mr. S. Kumar, District Rehabilitation Officer, Chennai.
Published by I Am An Author, a platform empowering debut writers, the book marks a significant professional milestone—Dr. Akila’s 25th year of service in the field of autism therapy through Bright – The Learning Centre and Early Intervention Services India.
In an emotional address, Dr. Akila reflected on her journey and the inspiration behind her book. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to her parents for instilling purpose, to her husband Mr. Vijayakumar, her sisters Kavitha, Pavithra, and Devi, her dedicated team, and the parents who have entrusted her with their children’s growth. The event featured a touching showcase by children with autism, whose performances stood as proof that, with the right support, every child can thrive and shine.
Delivering the keynote address, Mrs. Lakshmi highlighted various government schemes for the differently abled and applauded Dr. Akila’s efforts to share her professional insights through this publication. Esteemed guests including Dr. K. K. Dhanavendan, Dr. Rathinavel Rajan, Dr. C. Sheela Sasikumar, Dr. Kala Samayan, and Mrs. Sundari Ganapathy shared valuable perspectives for parents, emphasizing that patience and perseverance are key virtues in nurturing children with special needs.
A highlight of the event was the felicitation of special-needs achievers across diverse fields—Sudharsan Sasikumar (academic excellence), Adithya (music), and Nivedh (multi-domain achievements)—along with 17 India Book of Records holders. Their accomplishments served as powerful reminders that autism is not a limitation, but a different pathway to success.
