Adolescent Wellness Seminar Inaugurated By Prof.m K Surappa, Vice Chancellor, Anna University

Chennai, 30th March 2021: Global Welfare Foundation is a non-profitable, non-governmental organization, endeavoring to facilitate the “Well Being” of the less privileged of the society and add values to their values. Seminar was held on Adolescent Wellness, at Alumni Club, Anna University at 9.30AM on 28.03.21 with Adolescent children, their parents and teachers. The Seminar is shared live on Zoom platform to enable more to participate actively, the Speakers are mental health experts will attend the seminar and create the awareness.

Sri.Srinivasan Lingeswaran, Managing Trustee, Global Welfare Foundation said Global Welfare Foundation is partnering with The Breakfast Revolution in an ambitious project to fight against malnutrition in Tamil Nadu 11 in 2 children in India is malnourished and 5 in 10 girls are anemic. 8 out of 10 children are hungry all morning. Almost 8 lakh yearly child deaths in India can be prevented with some help. We will provide tasty, nutritious, inexpensive, and safe breakfasts to poor children in (pre-schools) schools, and low-income communities. These ready-to-eat nutritious breakfast provide most of the child’s daily requirement of vitamins, minerals, and protein in one meal itself.

Prof. M K Surappa, Vice Chancellor, Anna University Chennai said extremely happy to attend the inaugural of Adolescent Wellness Seminar organized by the Global Welfare Foundation to create the awareness among the people. 

As you are aware, India is witnessing, increased stress amidst adolescent children, due to various reasons. Statistics indicate that, one in four children suffer from a behavioral disorder. And, abrupt ending of lives is the second leading cause of death among children. Research shows that, approximately 90 percent of people who died due to abrupt ending of lives, were suffering from a mental illness at that time. The most common mental illness reported was depression. Behaviour problems ranging from, occasional angry outbursts to constant irritability or inconsolable worry to significant fears related to exams, excessive gadget use and much more, lead to depression. Adolescence not only causes, significant changes in mind and the body, but also shapes the way children look at various important aspects of their life, such as relationship, friends, career and core human values.
