Tamil Nadu Healthcare Indicators on par with Developed Countries: Dr C Vijaya Baskar, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu

  • Tamil Nadu Government has recently signed a MoU with World Bank for Rs 3000 Crore and with JICA for Rs 1684 Crore for the Tamil Nadu Healthcare system reform program which will further improve the healthcare facilities in the State, said  Dr Vijaya Baskar.
Chennai, September 20th 2019: Healthcare Industry should device ways and means to make advance technologies accessible to common man at affordable cost and Tamil Nadu is working towards making the State on par with health indicators of developed nation, said Dr C Vijaya Baskar, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu at the Conference on Tamil Nadu Medical Value Travel organised by the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) in Chennai on 20 September 2019.
Dr C Vijaya Baskar, Hon’ble Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family welfare and Hon’ble Minister for Tourism Mr Vellamandi N Natarajan, Government of Tamil Nadu  inaugurated  2ND EDITION OF CII TAMILNADU TRAVEL MART AND MEDICAL VALUE TRAVEL MART 2019 Exhibition, today  at Chennai Trade Centre.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr C Vijaya Baskar, Hon’ble Minister for Health and Family Welfare, Government of Tamil Nadu, said, “Tamil Nadu Health Department pact with the Government of Victoria; Australia in trauma healthcare which was signed last year helped in reducing the trauma mortality rate and In terms of numbers,  over 4300  patients lives have been saved.   International standard of hospitals, expert doctors, quality and affordable costs, availability of latest technologies are some of the key factors that put the State of Tamil Nadu on top of healthcare services.

In his Theme address, Dr S Chandrakumar, Convenor, CII Tamilnadu Task Force on Health Tourism said, “India holds 20% of the medical travel value market globally with a growth of 16-18% year on year and Government of India also acknowledged the medical travel is the important source of foreign exchange. Last year 5,00,000 medical travel visas has been provided in India and people from neighbouring countries like Africa, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh visited india particularly Tamil nadu for medical services added Dr Chandra Kumar. 
Dr C Vijaya Baskar, Hon’ble Minister for Health, Medical Education and Family welfare and Hon’ble Minister for Tourism Mr Vellamandi N Natarajan, Government of Tamil Nadu  inaugurated and visited the stalls at  2ND EDITION OF CII TAMILNADU TRAVEL MART AND MEDICAL VALUE TRAVEL MART 2019 at Chennai Trade Centre.
In his welcome address, Mr S Chandramohan, Chairman, CII Tamil Nadu said that the revenue generated through medical tourism will double in Tamil Nadu in the coming years. Technology in healthcare will bring down the cost and the affordability of healthcare services added Mr Chandramohan.

In his special address, Mr S Ganesh IAS, Director, Indian Medicine and Homeopathy said, Tamil Nadu has 150 wellness centres to cater the needs of the Non communicable diseases and around 2 Crore people are visiting the wellness centres. Ayush (Ayurveda) sector has immense potential and opportunity for medical value travel said, Mr Ganesh. 💢💢
