Gleneagles Global Health City Launches WearARed Challenge to Commemorate World Heart Day

Chennai, September 20th 2019: Gleneagles Global Health City s today announced the launch of a novel initiative as a run-up to the upcoming World Heart Day on 29 September. The week long initiative will kick-start on 23 September and culminate on 29 September.


Through the #WearARed Challenge, the hospital invites you to be part of this movement to raise awareness among the youth of our country and inspire them to take on a Heart Healthy lifestyle. Participants are requested to perform at least 3 activities from the below.

  1. Climbing two flight of stairs in 90 seconds
  2. 20 Jumping Jack’s
  3. 2 Sit ups
  4. 5 Minutes Bollywood dancing
  5. 20 repetitions of very light thera band exercise
  6. 45 seconds running on the spot

Chennai, 15 October 2025: A 13-year-old boy from an economically disadvantaged background made a remarkable recovery at Madras Medical Mission (MMM) Hospital, Chennai, after facing life-threatening complications from a chronic heart condition. His condition rapidly worsened, leading to a dramatic drop in heart function, unresponsive blood pressure, kidney failure requiring dialysis, and liver congestion. A heart transplant became the only viable option. With his father working as a driver and unable to afford the high cost, financial support was arranged through MMM’s Social Works Department and a major Trust. Just as doctors considered temporary cardiac support, a donor heart from a young adult became available through TRANSTAN, far sooner than expected. Chennai, October 10, 2025: The 35th National Conference of the Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology (IASGCON 2025) was inaugurated today at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai. The three-day conclave (October 10–12) gathers over 1250 delegates from across India and 40+ international faculty members to explore innovations in GI oncology, artificial intelligence, and minimally invasive surgery. Themed “GI Oncology Innovations, AI & Beyond,” the event features lectures, debates, panel discussions, live surgical demonstrations, and hands-on skill labs.
