Paterson Cancer Center observes “Rose Day”

• The programme was majorly aimed at bringing self-confidence in cancer patients by making them comprehend that it is curable.

Chennai, September 22, 2019: Paterson Cancer Center under the auspices of CANCER ALLEVIATION FOUNDATION (CALF), a charitable trust,celebrated “Rose day”, an awareness programmeon cancer. Prof. V Kamakoti-  Dept, Computer Science - IIT Madras was the chief Guest. , Shri. B.Natarajan, Senior Advocate, Mirchi Shiva - Actor, Radio Jockey, Dialogue Writer, Dr. B.Kumaravel, Managing Director – Vijai’s Nursing Home, Shri. S. Ve. Shekar -  Tamil Playwright and Film Actor, Shri V. Kamaraja.I.P.S - (Retd)Additional Director General of Police and Smt. S.Rajeswari I.P.S - SP, Idol Wing CBCID ,Tamil Nadu were also part of the event.

As part of Rose Day celebration, ambassadors and their relatives shared their experience on the care, love, affection and confidence they got from their dear ones in addition to the treatment modalities including Psychotherapy which they received from the center. The programme aimed at bringing self-confidence in the cancer patients by making them comprehend that it is curable. Many ambassadors emphasized that cancer is not a disease but a disorder. With the advent of improvement in the diagnostic methods and treatment facilities cancer is curable & preventable. Many ambassadors, their relatives and cancer patients under treatment were part of the event.

While addressing the crowd at the event,  Dr. S. Vijayaraghavan, Managing  Director, Paterson Cancer Centersaid “This day is declared as  ‘Rose day”. It is used for exchanging roses among the friends & relatives of the cancer patients, encouraging them to brave the disorder. On the other hand, Paterson Cancer Center which has got the strong belief that cancer never kills anybody but the fear kills. Hence Paterson Cancer Center designed, the Rose day as a junction between those who have been treated and cured with those on treatment It is to share their experiences by way of instilling the confidence based on their experience to handle the reactions & countering the rhetoric, rebuking, and impertinent, gathered opinions from the relatives & the non oncology professionals dipping down the confidence, leading causing sleepless nights. The specialists of Paterson Cancer Center imbibe sorrows of those undergoing the management & transfer them in the form of question to those who are on follow-ups .In the end there will be a formal assembly through which the daily needs kit are distributed to those who deserve.
