Chennai, Sept 19, 2019: Setting another milestone in its journey of achieving clinical excellence, SIMS Hospital, Chennai launched an exclusive centre for aortic diseases, AORTIC ANEURYSM CENTRE, on 19-September’2019. It was an apt occasion for the launch, as the day is observed as the Aortic Disease Awareness Day across the world. The centre was formally inaugurated by Mr. N. Ram–Chairman, The Hindu Publishing Group, who graced the event as the chief guest. Among other dignitaries present were, Dr. Raju Sivasamy – Vice President, SIMS Hospital, Dr. V. V. Bashi – Director, ICAD.

The launch of such an exclusive centre in India is really a need of the hour. If statistics are to be believed, more than 3 -4 lakh of people in the country are affected by aortic diseases, every year; out of which only 1000 people are getting treatment. This is due to the availability of very few centres with capability to treat this condition.

Under the leadership of Dr. Bashi, for the treatment of aortic diseases, the exclusive Aortic Aneurysm Centre at SIMS Hospital aims to bring a focused approach in enhancing the awareness and providing advanced treatment for this complication. 💢💢

Chennai, December 19, 2025: Thiruvallur District-Level Viksit Bharat Youth Parliament Competition 2026 was successfully held at Mar Gregories College of Arts and Science, Mogappair West, on 19 December 2025.
