World Mental Health Day: MSSW & Kauvery Hospital Organize Rally Emphasizing Workplace Mental Health


Chennai, October 12, 2024 – MSSW (Madras School of Social Work), in collaboration with Kauvery Hospital, Alwarpet organized a rally today at Besant Nagar to mark World Mental Health Day. The event focused on the theme "Mental Health at the Workplace," highlighting the significance of supportive and inclusive work environments for mental well-being.

The rally saw active participation from professionals, students, and mental health advocates, all coming together to promote awareness and advocate for positive change in workplaces. Dr. Yamini Kannappan, Senior Consultant Psychiatrist at Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet, emphasized, "Addressing mental health at the workplace is crucial for both employees and employers. A supportive environment not only enhances productivity but also nurtures a positive culture where individuals can thrive."

Adding to the initiative, Mr Sangeeth Gopinath, Program Head of the Undergraduate Psychology department at MSSW remarked, "Creating awareness about mental health in professional settings is the first step toward change. We need to break the stigma and encourage open conversations, making workplaces spaces of comfort and growth."
The rally served as a platform to educate the public about the importance of mental health in professional settings and encouraged open dialogue about mental well-being, aiming to create more inclusive and healthy work environments.
