Madras Day Celebrations Planned From Aug 17 to 25

Chennai, August 12, 2024: Vincent D Souza, Editor Mylapore Times, V Sriram, Historian and Author and Mohan Raman, Actor &  Corporate Trainer today briefed reporters on Madras Day Celebrations at GRT Hotel.

During the press meet, they said that over 50 events have been planned for Madras Day 2024 (as on August 11) and 50 more are expected to be held by August 30. The events include Walks and Talks, Exhibitions and Projects, Quizzes, Tours and Contests. Over 50 organisations of the city are hosting these events, all done voluntarily.

Chennai, 15 October 2025: A 13-year-old boy from an economically disadvantaged background made a remarkable recovery at Madras Medical Mission (MMM) Hospital, Chennai, after facing life-threatening complications from a chronic heart condition. His condition rapidly worsened, leading to a dramatic drop in heart function, unresponsive blood pressure, kidney failure requiring dialysis, and liver congestion. A heart transplant became the only viable option. With his father working as a driver and unable to afford the high cost, financial support was arranged through MMM’s Social Works Department and a major Trust. Just as doctors considered temporary cardiac support, a donor heart from a young adult became available through TRANSTAN, far sooner than expected. The match was excellent, and the transplant was scheduled immediately. Moments before surgery, the boy suffered cardiac arrest, but was successfully resuscitated, allowing the transplant to proceed. IASGCON 2025 Inaugurated in Chennai | 35th Annual Surgical Gastroenterology Conference Focuses on GI Oncology & AI

Chennai, October 10, 2025: The 35th National Conference of the Indian Association of Surgical Gastroenterology (IASGCON 2025) was inaugurated today at ITC Grand Chola, Chennai. The three-day conclave (October 10–12) gathers over 1250 delegates from across India and 40+ international faculty members to explore innovations in GI oncology, artificial intelligence, and minimally invasive surgery. Themed “GI Oncology Innovations, AI & Beyond,” the event features lectures, debates, panel discussions, live surgical demonstrations, and hands-on skill labs.
