Indian Bank Celebrates 78th Independence Day and 118th Foundation Day


Chennai, August 15, 2024: Indian Bank celebrated the 78th Independence Day of the nation and its 118th Foundation Day reflecting on the country’s rich heritage and reaffirming its commitment to India's growth and development. The National Flag was hoisted by Shri. S L Jain, Managing Director & CEO of Indian Bank at Chennai, in the Registered Head Office at 66 Rajaji Salai and at the Indian Bank Corporate Office in Royapettah. The Event added a patriotic touch to the atmosphere.

To further commemorate its 118th Foundation Day, Indian Bank organized a Vintage Car Rally and Flag March from Leela Palace to Indian Bank Academy for Growth and Excellence (IMAGE), MRC Nagar. The event witnessed distinguished athletes who represented our country in Olympics namely S. Thirumalvalavan, V.R. Dinesh Nayak, and V Jayalakshmi amongst others.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Jain, paid tribute to the sacrifices of our freedom fighters and soldiers who paved the way for our nation’s independence. He reflected on the extraordinary journey of India - sa journey marked by resilience, progress, and an unbreakable spirit. He further added, Indian Bank remains dedicated to advancing financial inclusion, empowering communities, and steering our nation toward a brighter and more prosperous future. 

Adding to the celebratory spirit, Indian Bank underscored its commitment to social responsibility through impactful initiatives. The bank provided essential tools, including Braille styluses, mobility canes, arithmetic type sets, and JAWS software, to support the education and self-reliance of visually impaired students at The Little Flower Convent Higher Secondary School for the Blind, Chennai. Additionally, Indian Bank extended its CSR activities to benefit the sanitary workers of Ward 119 of the Greater Chennai Corporation, providing raincoats for the workers and school bags, notebooks, and stationery items for their children, reinforcing its dedication to community welfare.
