2nd Edition of Rotary RCMIC "Rotachess" Tournament gets good response
Chennai, June 23, 2024: The second edition of the RCMIC Rotachess held in YMCA Royapettah in association with YMCA Physical Activities Committee on Sunday 23rd June had a tremendous response from Chess enthusiasts from across India with the registration touching 595.
The tournament was inaugurated by Mr L V Navneeth,CEO of the Hindu Group, while the Chief Guest for the Valedictory Function was Nawabzada Mohammed Asif Ali. The total prize money was Rs 600,000 {six lakhs } The FIDE approved Rapid Chess Tournament saw many young and younger. boys and girls participate with enthusiasm.

Rtn Gopinath,Chairman of the Chess Tournament said, We are delighted with the response from students and professionals.He congratulated all participants who had come braving the heat from different parts of India making the entire effort worthwhile. He thanked the team, sponsors and YMCA officials for their whole hearted support.
GM Vaibhav Suri is 1st Prize winner of Rs 80,000/ cash; GM Pranesh M is 2nd prize winner of Rs 50,000/=; IM A R Ilamparathi is 3rd prize winner of Rs 40,000/-.
There were 100 others winners who took home cash prizes ranging from Rs 1000/-,5000/-,10,000/- 25000/- etc.
Rtn Gopinath assured the participants that the tournament will become bigger and better with every passing year. President Rtn N.Balakrishnan thanked everyone for their support in making this event a grand success.
