200 women bikers hit the road to spread awareness on breast cancer
- Kauvery Hospital in association with Women Motosport Club organized Bikeathon Rally to create awareness on Breast Cancer
Chennai, 22nd October 2023: Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet and Vadapalani Chennai, a unit of Kauvery Group of Hospitals, a leading multispecialty healthcare chain in Tamil Nadu organized a bike rally along with Women Motosport Club, to create awareness on breast cancer. The rally was flagged off from Kauvery Hospital Vadapalani by Thiru Prabhakara Raja, MLA Virugambakkam Constituency and Thiru Suresh Kumar, IAS and Mr Kingsley Director of Operations, Kauvery Hospital Vadapalani. The rally culminated at RA Puram Corporation Playground where the bikers were felicitated.

“Almost 60% of women visit the hospital when they have reached the advanced stage of cancer. It is important to be aware of the early signs and symptoms of breast cancer to help in early diagnosis and better outcomes. Therefore, every year the aim is to create awareness on early detection, symptoms/signs and self-examination. We are pleased to associate with Women Motosport Club for the noble initiative, Dr Iyappan Ponnuswamy Medical Director Kauvery Hospital Chennai.

The event was presided over by Thiru Ma Subramaniam, Hon’ble Minister of Healthy and Family Welfare Govt of Tamil Nadu, Thiru Dayanidhi Maran , Member of Parliament and Secretary DMK Sports Wing, Thiru Mylai Dha Velu, MLA , Mylapore Constituency., Dr AN Vaidhyswaran, Senior Consultant and Director Radiation Oncology Kauvery Hospital Main Alwarpet , Dr Mahesh Kumar Medical Superintendent Kauvery Hospital Alwarpet, Thirumathi C Latha. Secretary Tamil Nadu Athletic Association Joint Secretary , Athletic Federation of India and Ms Nivetha Jessica President, Women Motorsport Club.
A Mammogram Van was also stationed at the program to encourage screening for breast cancer.
