National Symposium on THE DRAVIDIAN MODEL: PROSPECTS AND CHALLENGES organised in Loyola College, Chennai
Chennai, February 23, 2023: The Department of Economics organised a National Symposium on THE DRAVIDIAN MODEL: PROSPECTS AND CHALLENGES in the Loyola campus premises on 23.02.2023. The chief guest for the inauguration of symposium was Dr.R.Kannan, Senior Political Officer, United Nations (Retd.) and author of the book Anna and M.G.R. and guest of honour was Dr.A.Kalaiyarasan, Assistant Professor at MIDS and the author of the book ‘The Dravidian Model’. Dr. Kannan quoted Former Chief Minister Kamaraj for laying foundations for the Dravidian Model in independent India which was later developed by Dravidian parties.

A panel discussion followed the inauguration with the following panelists.
- Mr. Suresh Sambandhan, Founder and CEO, Kissflow
- Ms. Lakshmi Subramanian, Senior Special Correspondent, The Week
- Mr. Puhazh Gandhi, Coordinator, Dravidian Professional Forum (DPF).
- Dr. R. Saritha and Prof S. Neeta, Assistant Professors of Economics, Loyola College moderated the session.
The technical session provided space for students, research scholars and faculty members to present their views on the Dravidian Model. The chairperson of the session were Dr. P. Anbalagan, Associate Professor, Department of Economics, Presidency College, Chennai and Dr. S. Narayanan, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics, D.G.Vaishnav College, Chennai.
The symposium ended with the valedictory session in the evening. The chief guest for the valedictory session was Mr.Samas, Founding Editor, Arunchol. Mr.Samas highlighted various prospects and challenges on the current trends and changes existing in the state.
