CHENNAI : Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker Thiru M Appavu, who was the chief guest at Aalabanai, the District Conference of Rotary International District 2981, inaugurated various welfare projects initiated by the organization.

Thiru Appavu dedicated Mammography on Wheels, Project Orange and Ambulances for the service of the public in the presence of Rtn. AKS S Balaji, District Governor, Rotary International District 2981, Rtn M A Mohamed Ziaudeen, Aalabanai Conference Chairman and office-bearers and members of Rotary International. The total worth of the projects is around Rs 2 crore.
Justice R Subramanian of the Madras High Court was the Guest of Honour at the three-day conference that began on a colourful note at Confluence Hall, Mamallapuram, on Friday. Rtn PDG AKS Raja Sreenivasan and Rtn AKS Jayanthi Raja Seenivasan represented Rotary International President Rtn Shekhar Mehta.
Swami Sukhabodhananda, DMK Rajya Sabha member Trichy Siva, Journalist Thiru Rangaraj Pandey, Actor-Director Thiru R Parthiban, Emirates NBP COO Thiru Sethuraman Sathappan, Writer Thiru S Ramakrishnan, Social Media Influencer Thiru Raj Mohan, Writer and Motivational Speaker Thiru Kalaimamani Sugi Sivam, and Actress Aishwarya Rajesh were the distinguished guests.
Shri S Pothiraj of Pothys Group and Shri S Karthikeyan of Narayana Nidhi Ltd were the Guests of Honour. Cultural programmes by Alex, Senthil Rajalakshmi, Miracle on Wheels and Rakshan & Jacqueline were held.
The 2981 Rotary District includes 135 clubs across seven revenue districts of Thanjavur, Tiruvaruur, Nagapattinam, Mayiladuthurai, Cuddalore, Puducherry and Karaikal. Of the 6,300 members of the 2981 Rotary District, 4,000 took part in the conference.
