Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Chennai Collaborates with Intel to Offer B.Tech Program in Computer Science Engineering - Artificial Intelligence

Chennai, 1st November 2021: The Chennai campus of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, one of India's leading multi-disciplinary teaching and research institutions, is now offering a B.Tech Program in Computer Science Engineering with specialization in Artificial Intelligence, in association with Intel Corporation

 

The Chennai campus of the university will offer the programme from the 2021 academic year. A part of Intel College Excellence Programme, the B.Tech programme will be delivered with the support of FICE Education, an authorized program associate of Intel for the programme. 

 

The curriculum of the B.Tech programme is designed in consultation with Intel and FICE experts, who will also conduct faculty development and student training programmes. The course will give students the opportunity to acquire the latest skills in cutting-edge technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Edge Computing and High-Performance Computing, and Internet of Things.

For their projects, students will also work on advanced Intel hardware and software including Intel Xeon Processors, Intel one API Software suits - Intel System Studio Software, Intel AI development Tools, Intel AI Software Libraries, Intel Framework Optimization, Movidius Neural Compute Stick and Intel FPGA Boards. 

 

In his comments about the new programme and Intel partnership, the campus director Mr. Manikantan said, “We are excited to partner with Intel Corporation, which is at the forefront of expanding the horizons of AI, ML and other advanced technologies, to offer a higher education programme. The best part of the collaboration is that our students and teaching staff will have the opportunity to work with Intel and FICE experts and on advanced Intel hardware and software solutions. The pace at which these technologies make inroads in manufacturing and services sectors is mind boggling. Giving early exposure to our students on them is crucial to meet the skill demands of the emerging industries. We are committed to expanding the programme and adding new specializations in the future.”

 

Upon the completion of the B.Tech programme, the students will be job-ready for various electronics, IT and other mainstream industries like healthcare and automobiles that are increasingly driven by AI and IoT. The university is planning to do innovation projects jointly with Intel to foster entrepreneurship and to develop a startup culture among its students.
