Rotary Club of Madras Donates Infant Ventilator To Kanchi Kamakoti Childs Trust Hospital


Chennai, Oct 09, 2021: The Rotary Club of Madras, the third oldest club in India, today donated an infant ventilator valued at Rs 20 lakhs. This was made possible by the generous Rotarians, Rotary Clubs from USA, RI Dist 5230 and 5160 from California and NGO's like Global Uplift, headed by Rtn Prakash Peter Shah who, is the son of former TN Governor late KK Shah.

According to Rtn Mohan Raman, President RCM, As the first wave came under control, it became clear that we have to prepare better for subsequent waves, the Govt and the medical fraternity started thinking ahead to improve the critical infrastructure at hospitals. This project was born out of such thinking and planning. Our club decided to help in an unique way by donating a ventilator for the Neo Natal ICU.



Dr N Chandrakumar, Senior Consultant, who heads the department of Neonatology, KKCTH says, "this ventilator will be very valuable to ventilate newborn babies both term and preterm. This equipment is equipped with advanced modes including non invasive oscillatory ventilation which is helpful in treating extreme preterm babies weighing less than 1000gms."
