Commenting about the event, Mr Hemanth R, Founder, Tamil Marathon, said, “Our aim with Tamil Marathon 2021 is to give Tamils all over the world and those who are connected with Tamil culture, tradition, and arts, an unparalleled experience of running together virtually, and of demonstrating their solidarity with rural Tamil Nadu that needs an urgent attention to upgrade and restore its infrastructure, and thus the quality of standards of living, post cyclones and Covid-19 lockdown restrictions.

We are hopeful of participating in the infrastructure development of at least 50 villages with the funds raised from the current edition of the marathon. The entire collection of registration fee will be used for this, and also for creating a virtual platform that will host the performances of Tamil folk arts and dance forms like Mayil Attam, Kavadi Attam, Kummi, Bommalattam, Villu Paattu, Kolattam, Kargam, Oyilattam, and Theru Koothu, that need people’s continued patronage to thrive.”

Tamil Marathon has attracted overseas participation from Malaysia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, South Africa, Mauritius, Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Europe, North America, and the Caribbean.
