Apollo Hospitals Group organised ‘I am and I Will’ Walkathon to create awareness on Cancer
Chennai, February 09 2020: Apollo Cancer Centre, Teynampet and
Apollo Proton Cancer Centre organised a walkathon on the theme – ‘I AM and I
WILL’ in collaboration with Adyar Cancer Institute to create awareness on
Cancer. The walkathon witnessed over 550 participants including Cancer
Survivors, College Students, Doctors and Paramedics. The Walkathon was flagged
off from Adyar Cancer Institute and ended at Apollo Cancer Centre, Teynampet.
Certificates and Mementos were distributed to the participants at Apollo Cancer
Centre, Teynampet.
Disease
trends over the last decade indicate that Non-Communicable Diseases are
exponentially increasing in incidence and are the leading cause of Mortality in
the country. Under the guidance for visionary leader,Dr.Prathap C Reddy,
Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group this walkathon brought together friends and
families to walk and create awareness on early detection, celebrate survivors
and support those who were diagnosed with Cancer.
I AM,
and I WILL, Walkathon aimed at spreading awareness and educating people on how
to fight and prevent cancer through early detection and early screening. The
walkathon urged to quit smoking, practice healthy eating and insisted the public to
priorities issues related to cancer and work towards
making it a thing of the past.
