DHL Global Forwarding opens new special economic zone logistics facility near Chennai

  • Facility to bring convenience to industries in the manufacturing belt of Puducherry.

Chennai, July 4, 2019: DHL Global Forwarding, the leading international provider of air, sea and road freight services, and a division of Deutsche Post DHL Group, has opened a new logistics services facility in the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) near Chennai. Located in Swarnbhoomi, mid-way between Chennai and Puducherry, the site developed by the New Chennai Township Pvt. Ltd. (NCTPL) is close to the thriving hub of electronics, automotive and information technology.

Manufacturers benefit from the availability of consolidation at the new facility for export on behalf of overseas buyers and easy re-export options while importers stand to gain the benefits of just-in-time supply and duty deferment. DHL Global Forwarding’s well-connected transport network for cargo movement into and out of the SEZ makes it an attractive option for businesses in the area.

Currently occupying 33,500 square feet with the option for further expansion, DHL Global Forwarding’s SEZ logistics services facility will eliminate a leg of transportation between the customer’s factory and the destination market, leading to considerable savings for customers on distribution costs, Customized value-added services offered at the site include packaging, labeling, embossing, sorting, inspection, strapping, kitting and assembly of complete and semi knocked-down kits. Flexible storage options and a single window customs clearance also ensure a more streamlined and quicker processing of the stored cargo.
