Chennai, 17th January 2019: Gem Hospital, India’s premier Gastroenterology, laparoscopic and Robotic surgery hospital has inaugurated its 2nd National Gastro Expo – Vayiru 2.0 in the city today by Thiru. M. PONNUSWAMI, Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industry, Tamilnadu at GEM Hospital Chennai located at MGR Road, Perungudi.
The objective of வயிறு 2.0 (Vayiru 2.0) expo is to create awareness among public about “Healthy Living and Disease Prevention”. Key attractions at the expo includes – knowledge walk, learning from 3D models of digestive systems, all about women (adolescence to menopause & beyond), all about men (adolescence to andropause & beyond), Meet & Greet surgical robot – watch 3D surgical movies, looking inward – all about endoscopes, and best diet practices & Yoga. Experts in the respective fields will assist the public to understand all these with the help of 3D models, specimens and posters.

This health awareness exhibition is open for Public for from 18th to 26th January 2019. As a part of Expo, GEM Hospital is conducting Essay and Drawing Competitions for School Students, College Students and General Public. Also, Health Talks will be organized by the experts in respective fields everyday followed by interactions with them.

Speaking on the Occasion Dr. C. Palanivelu, Chairman, GEM Hospital said, “First edition of this Expo was conducted in Coimbatore in 2014. Today we are extremely delighted to bring this வயிறு 2.0 (Vayiru 2.0) – 2nd National Gastro Expo 2019 to Chennai. My forty years experiences as a doctor has taught me that most diseases are self-inflicted by improper diet, inadequate exercises and bad habits like tobacco and alcohol. Most illnesses including the dreaded cancer are curable. Advanced technology in anesthesia and surgery and the expertise of doctors have made this possible. Laparoscopy and Robotic Surgery have reduced the pain to a very great extent and minimized the hospital stay largely. Early return to normal life happens at the earliest. To educate all, on these developments is the objective of exhibitions like this. Our Chennai hospital will start the Clinical Services from 30th Jan 2019 onwards”.
