November 2, 2026: Vultr, the world's largest privately held independent cloud infrastructure provider, has launched a 20 MW AI supercompute cluster in Chennai, powered by over 10,000 AMD Instinct MI355X GPUs and AMD EPYC CPUs. Its second-largest global cluster, the facility will support large-scale AI training and inference, strengthening India's position as a global AI development hub.

The launch also marked the signing of an MoU between Vultr India and StartupTN to provide cloud credits and preferential pricing to Tamil Nadu startups. Eligible early-stage startups will receive US$2,500 in credits and a 20% discount, while other qualifying startups can access US$45,000 in credits and a 20% discount.

Thiru P. Mathan Raja, Minister for MSMEs, Government of Tamil Nadu, stressed affordable access to advanced computing for startups and MSMEs. Thiru Dr. Atul Anand, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, IT & Digital Services Department, highlighted Tamil Nadu's 16,000-startup ecosystem and welcomed the investment.
Thiru Singai G. Ramachandran, Chairman, Tamil Nadu Startup & Innovation Mission, emphasised the importance of advanced computing for deep-tech innovation, noting Chennai's 567 deep-tech startups and estimated ₹75,000 crore ecosystem valuation.
Vultr also plans further infrastructure expansion in India, bringing next-generation computing closer to developers and businesses.
