Commenting on the development, Sameer Lalwani, Head of Amazon Bazaar, Amazon India, said Tamil Nadu has become a significant growth market for the platform, particularly across tier-2 and tier-3 cities where customers are increasingly seeking value-driven online shopping options.
“We are witnessing a structural shift in online shopping behaviour, especially across smaller cities, where customers increasingly seek quality, variety and value in equal measure,” he said, adding that the company remains committed to expanding affordable product access across every pin code in the State.
The company also reported a 2X year-on-year increase in sellers on Amazon Bazaar, helping expand product selection and enabling local businesses to reach customers across India. To strengthen delivery operations in the State, Amazon said it has expanded its logistics network with seven fulfilment centres, four sortation centres and nearly 1,600 hub delivery partners to improve last-mile connectivity across urban and smaller towns.
Going forward, Amazon Bazaar said it plans to deepen its presence in Tamil Nadu by onboarding more local sellers, expanding regionally popular categories such as Women’s Fashion and Home & Kitchen, and extending delivery reach further into tier-2 and tier-3 markets.
