Mar Gregorios College of Arts & Science Celebrates 25th Graduation Day with Academic Excellence and Pride

Chennai, April 1, 2026: Mar Gregorios College of Arts and Science celebrated its 25th Graduation Day on Wednesday with solemnity and grandeur at its campus, marking a significant milestone in the institution’s academic journey. A total of 615 students — including 554 undergraduates and 61 postgraduates — were conferred degrees, symbolising years of dedication, perseverance, and achievement.

The ceremony was presided over by Most Rev. Dr. Mathews Mar Pachomios, Bishop of St. Ephrem Khadki, Pune, while Prof. Dr. Rita John, Registrar of University of Madras, attended as the Chief Guest. The proceedings began at 10:30 a.m. with a traditional academic procession, followed by a prayer song and the Tamilthai Vazhthu. Rev. Fr. Mathew Pallikunnel, Secretary of the institution, formally declared the ceremony open. Prof. Titty Elizabeth Phillips welcomed the gathering and introduced the Chief Guest.

Presenting the Annual Report, Dr. R. Srikanth highlighted the college’s academic accomplishments and its continued commitment to excellence in higher education.
In her address, Prof. Rita John urged graduates to pursue lifelong learning, uphold discipline, and carry ethical values into their professional and personal lives. Her message resonated strongly with the graduating students and their families.

A key highlight of the ceremony was the recognition of University Rank Holders. The MSW (2022–2024, Shift I) batch produced five rank holders — Blessina D (Rank 1), Soorya Kennedy (Rank 5), Samuel Azariah J (Rank 6), Ramya K S (Rank 8), and Sangeetha A (Rank 9). From the B.Com (Accountancy and Finance) batch (2021–2024), Lathika G S secured Rank 9 at the University level.

Heads of Departments presented the candidates for the conferment of degrees, following which Principal Dr. Srikanth administered the graduation pledge, emphasising professional integrity and social responsibility. The congregation was then formally dissolved, and the ceremony concluded with the National Anthem.

The 25th Graduation Day not only marked an academic milestone for the institution but also celebrated the aspirations of 615 graduates stepping into a new phase of their lives.
