MV Hospital for Diabetes Hosts MVCON 2026, Showcasing Advances in Diabetes Care and Complication Management; MV Lifetime Achievement Award presented to Union Minister Dr.Jitendra Singh
Chennai, March 20, 2026: MV Hospital for Diabetes has launched MVCON 2026, a three-day national conference being held from March 20 to 22, 2026, bringing together leading experts in diabetes care, research, and clinical practice from across the country.
The conference, inaugurated today, focuses on the latest advancements in diabetes management, with particular emphasis on complications affecting vital organs such as the kidney, eye, and heart. Dedicated sessions on diabetic foot care form a key component of the program. The event also features live hands-on workshops offering practical training in debridement, advanced wound care techniques, and Negative Pressure Wound Therapy, alongside live diabetic foot workshops, imaging, and revascularisation techniques.

A major highlight of the inaugural session was the presentation of the MV Lifetime Achievement Award to Jitendra Singh, recognising his contributions to diabetes research in India. He currently serves as Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Earth Sciences, and holds key portfolios in the Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy, and Space.
The conference will also honour A. V. Anoop with the MV Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to healthcare and wellness initiatives through the AVA Group, known for the iconic Medimix brand and its promotion of traditional and holistic healthcare practices.
The scientific program includes symposiums, panel discussions, debates, quiz competitions, and oral and poster presentations. A key highlight is the Prof. MV Gold Medal Oration 2026 by Ashok Kumar Das, Chairman of the Academic Committee of the National Academy of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and former Professor and Head of Endocrinology at JIPMER and PIMS, Puducherry.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Jitendra Singh expressed gratitude to Tamil Nadu and said he felt deeply honoured to receive the award. He encouraged young professionals to actively contribute to research and patient care in diabetes. Earlier, S. N. Narasingan delivered the welcome address, while Prashanth Arun proposed the vote of thanks.
The conference is expected to attract over 1,000 participants, including doctors, healthcare professionals, researchers, and specialists in diabetic foot and wound management. Around 100 experts, including Vijay Viswanathan, Head and Chief Diabetologist, Viswanathan Vishnu Vijay, Chief Executive Officer, and Dr. Prashanth Arun, Physician & Diabetologist at MV Hospital for Diabetes, will share insights on advancements in diabetes care.
Speaking about the conference, Dr. Viswanathan Vishnu Vijay said MVCON 2026 marks the first edition of MV’s annual scientific update and has been conceptualised as a multidisciplinary platform reflecting the evolving nature of diabetes care. He highlighted that the conference aims to improve patient outcomes through coordinated care, particularly in preventing complications such as diabetic foot disease. He added that the scientific program emphasises early intervention, advanced care, and integration of AI and digital health, while promoting a shift from treatment to prevention.
Key research themes at MVCON 2026 include innovations in diabetic foot ulcer management, cardiovascular and renal complications, metabolic disorders, epigenetics, microbiota, and emerging therapies. Additional focus areas include diabetic retinopathy technology, chronic kidney disease in diabetes, gestational diabetes, obesity and diabesity, and cardiovascular risk.
