Kishan R and Preemal J Crowned Champions in ARC 34th National Tenpin Bowling Championships

Former national champion Kishan R of Karnataka delivered a dominant performance to clinch his second national title in the Men’s Division at the ARC 34th National Tenpin Bowling Championships, which concluded at Amoeba, Church Street in Bengaluru. In the Women’s Division, Karnataka’s Preemal J scripted a memorable victory by securing her maiden national title, ending a 15-year wait for the state in the category.

In the men’s championship match, played on cumulative pinfall over two games, top seed Kishan R displayed composure and consistency. He took an early advantage in Game 1, scoring 208 against Akaash Ashok Kumar’s 191 to build a 17-pin lead. Kishan further strengthened his position in the second game with the highest game of the match, 244, while Akaash posted a strong 238. The Karnataka bowler eventually sealed the title with an overall margin of 23 pins, finishing 452–429.

Earlier in the stepladder rounds, third seed Akaash Ashok Kumar defeated fourth seed Shanmugananda by 50 pins (358–308) in the opening match. He then continued his impressive run by overcoming second seed Dhruv Sarda with a commanding 476–374 victory to secure his place in the final.

In the Women’s Division championship clash, fourth seed Preemal J took control early by scoring 188 against top seed Sabina Athica of Tamil Nadu’s 168 in the first game, gaining a 20-pin advantage. Despite a closely contested second game, Preemal maintained her lead and composure to claim the national crown with a total score of 332–308, winning by 24 pins.

Preemal’s path to the final was equally impressive. In the opening stepladder match, she defeated Maharashtra’s Shabeena Kasmani 357–338, before edging past Haryana’s Anukriti Bishnoi 422–409 to book her place in the championship match.

Special Awards at the tournament were also presented to standout performers. Anirudhan Sanjeevi of Tamil Nadu and Suchita S Kumar of Kerala were named the Most Promising Players. Kishan R recorded the most scores above 225 in the Men’s Division with 11 games and also achieved the highest six-game block with 1,369 pins. In the Women’s Division, Sabina Athica of Tamil Nadu registered the most scores above 200 with four games and recorded the highest six-game block with 1,122 pins.
