Students’ Musical Extravaganza Celebrates Harmony and Heritage at Bala Vidya Mandir, Adyar

Jan 6, 2026, Chennai, Adyar: A grand students’ musical programme titled “Colours of the Rainbow” was held at Bala Vidya Mandir Senior Secondary School, Adyar, Chennai. Founded in 1954, the institution proudly marks 75 years of excellence in education.

Now in its third consecutive year, the event showcased themes of religious harmony while highlighting India’s rich traditional music and dance heritage. More than 200 students participated, presenting performances using instruments such as guitar, flute, violin, mridangam, and vocal music, along with classical and folk dance forms including Bharatanatyam, folk dances, and Kavadi Attam.



A special highlight of the programme was a grand symphony-like performance, where all students came together and played multiple musical instruments simultaneously. This unique and coordinated presentation deeply impressed the audience.

Speaking after the event, Mr. Vijishkumar Garg, Patron of the Bala Brindavan School Group and former Indian Army officer, said that the school’s foremost responsibility is to instil discipline, self-confidence, mental strength, and quality education in its students, thereby earning the trust of parents. He also noted that many alumni of the school have gone on to achieve prominence in diverse fields such as politics, sports, and music. He further stated that this annual musical programme, now in its third year, will be expanded and conducted on a much larger scale in the coming years.

The event was attended by Dr. Hari, Secretary of the Bala Brinda Group; trustees Dr. Hemahari, Rama Devi Krishnan, Srivatsan, and Ramadevi; School Principal Daphne Rodgers; Vice Principal Shanthi Vasu; along with school administrators, teachers, parents, and a large gathering of students.
