Chennai: Ms. Sreya Aneesh, a student of MBA in Hotel Management at Chennais Amirta International Institute of Hotel Management, has brought international glory to India by winning the Gold Medal in the Individual Food Art Display (Carving) category at the 2025 Hotelex China International Chinese Cuisine Championship, held from July 24 to 26 in Chengdu, China. This prestigious event, endorsed by the World Association of Chefs Societies (Worldchefs), is one of the most revered platforms for showcasing international culinary talent.

Ms. Sreya competed in the Individual Food Art Display – Fruit & Vegetable Carving category. Sreya carved a CARP FISH applying fine art with Japanese, North Thailand and Vietnam techniques on Carrot, Pumpkin and Musk melon. She emerged victorious among the 175 professional carving experts from China, Thailand, North Korea, South Korea, Vietnam and India.

She earned an outstanding score of 92 out of 100, the highest score among the 175 professional carvers winning her the overall championship in Carving. Adding to the accolades, she was also honored with the Best Overseas Award, receiving a cash prize of RMB 20,000 (approximately ₹2.50 Lakhs). The award was presented by Dr. Rick Stephen – World chefs Vice President .
About Ms Sreya’s Accolades with Chennais Amirta: Ms. Sreya Aneesh has brought immense pride to India by excelling in numerous international culinary competitions. She made history by winning the Gold Medal at the IKA Culinary Olympics in Germany, marking India's first-ever gold in the 125-year history of the prestigious event, while pursuing her B.Sc in Hotel Management at Chennais Amirta International Institute of Hotel Management.
In addition to this remarkable achievement, she has also earned multiple accolades at international competitions held in Sharjah, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Maldives, consistently adding laurels to the nation’s crown.
To celebrate this international achievement, a grand welcome was organized at the Chennai Airport on August 9, where Ms. Sreya and Chef Karthik were received with honor. And on 21st August 2025, a felicitation Ceremony was organized by the Chennais Amirta management at their Aviation Campus.
During the felicitation ceremony, Chennais Amirta Group of Institutions Chairman Mr. R. Boominathan extended his heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Sreya Aneesh for making India and the institution proud through her remarkable achievement. He added that this incredible achievement is a testament to her dedication, artistry, and passion for culinary excellence. In appreciation of Sreya’s efforts, Chairman Mr Boominathan announced that the entire MBA fees of Ms Sreya will be taken care by the Chennais Amirta Management.
He also expressed his deep appreciation for Chef Karthik, the carving trainer, acknowledging his extraordinary guidance and dedicated training that played a crucial role in this international victory and honored him with a prestigious award.
