Chennai, 24th June 2025: Kauvery Hospital, a leading multi-specialty healthcare provider, has launched Project Jeevan, a comprehensive initiative to provide free spinal surgeries for children from the economically weaker section, born with congenital spinal and brain disorders. The project is being carried out in collaboration with Rotary Club of Chennai Mitra and Rotary Bangalore IT Corridor as lead clubs. It aims to bring life-changing surgical care to children from underserved communities who suffer from conditions such as spina bifida, myelomeningocele, tethered cord syndrome, scoliosis, and spinal tumors. These complex procedures will be conducted at Kauvery Hospital, Alwarpet, with a multidisciplinary team of surgeons and medical team.
The initiative is supported by a grant of ₹85 lakhs raised through The Rotary Foundation, participating Rotary Clubs and through CSR of Inflow Technologies. In its first phase, Project Jeevan will enable at least 35 children to receive critical surgical interventions at no cost. This effort builds on Kauvery Hospital’s earlier successful collaboration with Rotary, through which over 100 such surgeries were previously performed free of charge.

Many of these children are born prematurely and in critical condition. Without timely and specialized care, they face lifelong disability or death. “Through Project Jeevan, we aim not only to save lives but also to help these children lead normal, independent lives. These surgeries are highly intricate and require a well-coordinated team, and Kauvery Hospital is fully equipped to deliver the best possible outcomes,” said Dr Aravindan Selvaraj Co-Founder and Executive Director Kauvery Group of Hospitals.
Project Jeevan was created in response to the high incidence of neural tube defects in South India—estimated at 10 to 15 cases per 1,000 live births which disproportionately affects children from low-income backgrounds. Without proper surgical correction, these children often live with severe disabilities, placing emotional and financial strain on families and society.
With the right intervention at the right time, we can transform these lives. This initiative is not just about surgeries, it's about restoring futures, dignity, and the potential every child deserves.
The project encompasses several outreach and education components, including training programs for sonologists to improve early prenatal detection of spinal birth defects, awareness campaigns for expectant mothers on the prevention of congenital anomalies, and capacity-building workshops for surgeons and nurses to strengthen pediatric spine care across the region.
“Kauvery Hospital has been at the forefront of advanced healthcare for over 20 years. Our core vision lies in making quality healthcare accessible and affordable. We believe that no child should be denied life-saving treatment because of financial constraints. Our partnership with Rotary Club of Chennai Mitra ensures that this care reaches those who need it most. I congratulate Dr Balamurali, Senior Consultant Spine and Neurosurgeon at Kauvery, for this noble initiative,” added Dr Aravindan Selvaraj. Rtn. N S Saravanan, District Governor of Rotary District 3234, stated, “Project Jeevan is dedicated to improving child health through meaningful action. We extend our gratitude to The Rotary Foundation and our partner club in Bangalore for their invaluable support.”
With Project Jeevan, Kauvery Hospital goes beyond medicine to touch lives at their most vulnerable. It is a heartfelt mission to give children not just the gift of health, but the promise of a future filled with possibility. Every surgery performed is a step toward hope, dignity, and a life that every child deserves free from pain, limitations, and fear. Through this initiative, Kauvery Hospital stands as a pillar of healing, reminding us that compassion and care can truly change the course of a life.

Chennai, February 09, 2026: Building on the global momentum around World Cancer Day, Apollo Cancer Centre, Chennai and Apollo Proton Cancer Centre have launched the ‘ZERO TO HERO’ campaign to raise awareness about Stage Zero cancer detection and its critical role in improving survival and recovery outcomes. Cancer incidence in India continues to rise sharply, with over 15 lakh new cases reported in 2024, as per ICMR–NCRP data presented in Parliament. With one in nine Indians now facing a lifetime risk of cancer, the disease has emerged as a major public health challenge. Alarmingly, over 70% of cancers in India are diagnosed at advanced stages (III or IV), when treatment becomes more complex, outcomes are poorer, and the financial burden on families is significantly higher. As part of the ‘ZERO TO HERO’ campaign, Apollo Cancer Centre, Chennai and Apollo Proton Cancer Centre hosted an expert-led interaction focused on the life-saving potential of early cancer detection.
