  • Tamil Nadu Assembly Speaker Appavu launches TN State branch of APSI

Chennai, Oct 1, 2022: Mid Term PhonoCon 2022 of Association of Phono Surgeons of India (APSI) was held on 1st October at The Head And Neck Center and Hospital, Kilpakkam, Chennai. More than thirty international and leading specialists  in the field of laryngology in India shared their experience with more than a hundred ENT Surgeons and Speech Pathologists.

Organised by APSI and The Head And Neck Center and Hospital, in collaboration with Madras ENT Research Foundation, Chennai, the conference was held in person and live. Laryngology is a medical specialty that deals with problems of the voice, breathing, and swallowing. The Association of Phono Surgeons of India (APSI) which consists of doctors working in this field organises Mid Term Phonocon Conference and workshops annually to improve the lives of patients in the field of Laryngology.

The Tamil Nadu state branch of APSI was launched on October 1 as the Tamil Nadu Association of Laryngology (TAL). It was inaugurated by the Speaker of Tamil Nadu Assembly Mr. MP Appavu and members of APSI and TAL. The conference sessions held in the morning was inaugurated by Mr. A. Vetriazhagan, Member of Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly.

The conference provided a platform for clinicians interested in the field of Voice, Airway and Swallowing to develop their knowledge through lectures by experts in the field and face-to-face interaction with experts from across India.

THANC Hospital Director, Vidhyadharan Sivakumar said, " Experts, surgeons and speech therapists from across the country took part in this conference. Recent advanced treatments in this field were discussed. TAL was launched to improve the skill set and create awareness in Tamilnadu."
