National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) : Annual Press Conference

Shri S Selvaraj, Chief General Manager, National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), Tamil Nadu Regional Office, Chennai informed at the annual Press conference held in Chennai today (08 March 2021) that during the year 2020-21, loans disbursed by Tamil Nadu Regional Office of NABARD reached an all-time high of ₹27,040 crore, up from ₹14,458 crore the previous year – a growth of 87%.  


He attributed three reasons for this great achievement which are the cooperation and support received from the Government of Tamil Nadu, State owned undertakings, Banks, NBFCs and others, dedication of the staff members of NABARD and the Transparency with which NABARD functions.

 

Shri. Baiju N Kurup, Smt. N Neerajaa, and Shri. Sreepathy S Kalkura General Managers, Smt. Nazia Nizamudin, Smt. S Brinda, Shri D Mitra, and Shri S. Sudharsan, Deputy General Managers of the bank were present during the press conference.

Chennai, October 17, 2025: Vasan Eye Care Hospital, Chrompet, in collaboration with Shrimathi Devkunwar Nanalal Bhat Vaishnava College for Women, jointly observed World Sight Day 2025 with a powerful message on preventing vision loss and promoting safe Diwali celebrations. Over 150 college students participated in a unique Blind Walk, symbolically tying black ribbons over their eyes to raise awareness about visual impairment and the importance of eye donation. The event also included a vibrant rally advocating for eye care, eye safety during Diwali, and support for the visually impaired. Madras Diabetes Research Foundation Signs MOU with CBR & UK DRI for Pioneering Diabetes and Brain Health Research

25th October 2025 | Chennai, India – In a significant international partnership, the Madras Diabetes Research Foundation (MDRF), Chennai, the Centre for Brain Research (CBR) at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, and the UK Dementia Research Institute (UK DRI) have come together to advance pioneering research into the complex links between diabetes and brain health. Separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed between MDRF, CBR, and UK DRI to formalize this collaboration.
