SOS Children’s Villages steps into 40th year
Charity should flow from the heart with genuine concern for the receiver and there should be no holding back on giving, Chairman of IndusInd Bank R Seshasayee said here on Friday.

‘The value of gift is not measured in terms of volume. Cheque book charity is not the need of the hour. When you are serving society, you need not worry if people discourage or reject you. Be focused and keep doing good work’, Seshasayee said, speaking at a function to mark the 40th anniversary of SOS Children’s Villages-Chatnath Homes at Tambaram.

SOS Children’s Villages of India-Chatnath Homes has been rendering service to the children in need of care and protection. The concept of SOS is to bring up children with security and love under family based care and enable them join the mainstream society with dignity when they become adults.

It also runs Family Strengthening program to empower communities, women and children in vulnerable societies.
Managing Trustee, SOS Children’s Villages of India-Chatnath Homes, Uma Narayanan said ‘We are happy that since its inception, around 580 youth have been successfully integrated into society’.

They are employed as HR and front office staffs, custom relations executives, software engineers, accountants, anesthesiologists, physiotherapists, teaching, physical instructor, enterprise, start ups, nursing and dance teachers.

Currently 173 children are under the care of the Village. And another 475 children are being supported through Family Strengthening Program, which is a preventive program for child abandonment through empowerment of women in vulnerable situation and their community. On Saturday, a get-together is being done at the SOS Village, where a large number of people working for the children’s cause would be entertained to a cultural programme by the SOS kids.
