Heart transported from Tirunelveli Government Hospital to Fortis Malar in Chennai
                
A heart from Tirunelveli Government Hospital, Tirunelveli was transported to Chennai for transplant to a patient at Fortis Malar Hospital in Adyar. A potential organ alert was received by the team at Fortis Malar. A team of harvesting doctors were sent to Tirunelveli Government Hospital for assessment of the organ. Post preliminary assessment, the heart was harvested by Fortis Malar doctors to a patient diagnosed with DCM (Dilated cardiomyopathy).

The organ was harvested from a 35 year old male in Tirunelveli who had met with a road accident and was declared brain dead. Upon the family’s consent the heart was allocated to Fortis Malar for a 52 year male.
