Kalpavriksha 2026: Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital Hosts 19th National CME for Postgraduate Ophthalmology Students

Chennai, September 05, 2026: Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital, in association with Eye Research Centre Foundation, organised Kalpavriksha 2026, the 19th edition of its annual flagship Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme for postgraduate ophthalmology students. The two-day crash course, designed to strengthen clinical knowledge and examination readiness, brought together more than 30 leading faculty members and over 300 young doctors from across India.

The CME was inaugurated by Dr. B. L. Sujatha Rathod, Director, Directorate of Medical Education, Government of Karnataka, in the presence of Dr. Soosan Jacob, Director and Chief, Dr Agarwals Refractive and Cornea Foundation (DARCF), along with organising secretaries Dr. S. Soundari, Dr. Dhivya Ashok Kumar and Dr. Preethi Naveen.

The programme features expert sessions covering high-yield topics including uveitis, glaucoma, cornea and refractive surgery, cataract, squint and neuro-ophthalmology, orbit and oculoplasty, along with wet-lab sessions and a quiz. The initiative also recognises clinical excellence among postgraduate students. Dr. M. Divya received the Dr V Velayutham Consistent Performer Award, while Dr. R. Dhivya received the Dr J. Agarwal Exemplary Award for Best Case Presentation.

Dr. B. L. Sujatha Rathod said Kalpavriksha strengthens essential knowledge, clinical reasoning and examination confidence, helping future ophthalmologists translate learning into competent patient care. Dr. Soosan Jacob added that the programme has evolved into a leading national postgraduate CME, providing a focused, high-yield platform that complements regular training and helps develop confident and competent ophthalmologists.
