RETICON 2026 Brings Global Retina Experts Together in Chennai
Chennai, May 3, 2026: The 16th edition of RETICON, the flagship scientific conference of Dr Agarwal’s Retina Foundation, was held in Chennai on Sunday, attracting over 1,000 participants from India and abroad. The one-day event brought together vitreoretinal specialists, general ophthalmologists, clinicians, researchers, and postgraduate students to deliberate on the latest advancements in retina care.
The conference focused on cutting-edge developments in the diagnosis and management of vitreoretinal disorders, offering a comprehensive platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. Experts shared insights into emerging technologies and innovative treatment approaches shaping the future of ophthalmology.
RETICON 2026 was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. C. Sridhar, Vice Chancellor of Meenakshi Academy of Higher Education and Research, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Amar Agarwal, Chairman, Dr. Ashvin Agarwal, Chief Clinical Officer, and Dr. Manoj Khatri, Director of Vitreo-Retinal Services at Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital.
The scientific programme featured around 50 eminent speakers from across the globe, covering both medical and surgical retina. Key sessions addressed advancements in treating retinal vascular diseases, evolving surgical techniques, and current trends in clinical practice, offering valuable takeaways for delegates.
A major highlight of the conference was its hands-on Wet Lab sessions, where participants received practical training in advanced vitreoretinal procedures such as Glued IOL, SFT, and intravitreal injections. The event also included expert debates, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, enabling in-depth discussions on critical aspects of retina care.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Amar Agarwal said RETICON has evolved into a premier global platform that brings together leading experts to exchange knowledge and foster innovation in ophthalmology. He emphasized that the conference aims to equip clinicians with the latest techniques and treatment strategies to enhance patient outcomes through continuous learning and collaboration.
Dr. Manoj Khatri, Organising Secretary of RETICON 2026, highlighted the growing burden of retinal and vitreous diseases as major causes of vision loss.
