Crescent School of Business and RICS Launch Specialised MBA in Real Estate Management to Shape India’s Urban Future

Chennai, May 15, 2026: At a time when India is witnessing unprecedented urban expansion and infrastructure growth, Chennai-based Crescent School of Business (CSB), under the B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology, has launched a specialised MBA in Real Estate Management (MBA-REM) in collaboration with Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), one of the world’s most respected professional bodies in land, property, construction and infrastructure.

Crescent School of Business and RICS Launch Specialised MBA in Real Estate Management to Shape India’s Urban Future

As part of this launch, a MOU was exchanged between Crescent School of Business and Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors in the presence of academicians, and real estate Credai industry leaders. The programme aims to create a new generation of professionals capable of leading the convergence of management, technology, sustainability and the built environment — sectors that are becoming increasingly critical as India accelerates toward becoming a global economic powerhouse.

With over 100 smart cities under development, national infrastructure projects exceeding ₹111 lakh crore, and the real estate sector expected to contribute nearly 13 per cent to India’s GDP by 2030, the demand for globally trained real estate professionals has never been higher.

Industry experts note that India’s real estate sector has historically been driven by experienced practitioners who built expertise through field exposure rather than formal management education. While highly resourceful, the sector has lacked widespread access to internationally benchmarked frameworks, analytical tools and sustainability-driven approaches that are now essential in a rapidly evolving global market.

Addressing this gap, CSB has formally introduced the MBA-REM programme designed specifically for the needs of the real estate and infrastructure industry.

Global Collaboration with RICS
The partnership with RICS is being viewed as a major differentiator for the programme. Founded in 1868 and headquartered in the United Kingdom, RICS is regarded globally as a leading professional institution for standards and qualifications in land, property, valuation, construction and infrastructure.

Operating in more than 150 countries with over 130,000 qualified professionals worldwide, RICS brings international credibility and global alignment to the programme.

Students enrolling in the MBA-REM course will gain exposure to internationally recognised professional standards and global best practices followed in major real estate markets such as London, Singapore and the Gulf region. The programme also offers opportunities to become part of an international professional network within the built environment sector.

With India increasingly attracting sovereign wealth funds, institutional investors and multinational corporations into its real estate and infrastructure ecosystem, globally aligned qualifications are becoming a significant advantage for aspiring professionals.

Industry-Focused Curriculum
Unlike conventional management programmes, the MBA-REM treats the built environment as a specialised domain rather than an elective subject.

The curriculum covers a wide range of areas including real estate advisory and consultancy, urban infrastructure planning, property valuation and investment management, construction project management, PropTech and digital transformation, sustainability in the built environment, construction economics, and legal and regulatory frameworks governing land and development in India.

The programme also emphasises experiential learning through live industry projects, structured internships, expert sessions and professional networking opportunities that bridge the gap between academic theory and real-world practice.

Approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), the MBA-REM is among the few formally recognised specialised MBA programmes in Real Estate Management available in South India.

Designed for Diverse Professionals
The programme is intended for graduates from engineering, architecture, commerce, law and social sciences who seek a structured entry into one of India’s most dynamic and financially significant sectors.

It is also expected to benefit working professionals from construction, urban planning, banking and finance, government infrastructure agencies and real estate development who wish to formalise their expertise and accelerate career growth.

Career opportunities emerging from the programme include real estate consultancy, property valuation, asset management, investment advisory, PropTech ventures, urban infrastructure development, sustainable construction and project management.

As India’s cities continue to modernise and infrastructure investments expand, demand for skilled professionals in these areas is expected to rise sharply.

Admissions for the 2026–2028 batch of the MBA in Real Estate Management at the B.S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology are currently open.
