As part of its India foray, the company has set up its headquarters in Chennai and plans to expand its presence to major cities such as Mumbai and New Delhi over the next five years. It also intends to widen its reach to emerging healthcare hubs like Kolkata and Ahmedabad.

Announcing the development, Mr. Osamu Imazawa, President of Create Medic Co., said the company has established a dedicated sales entity in India, shifting from its earlier distributor-led model through Medi Nippon to direct operations. “India’s rapidly growing healthcare infrastructure, world-class medical professionals, and strong purchasing capacity make it a highly promising market. With an estimated growth rate of around 8%, we see immense potential for our products,” he noted.

Currently, the Indian market is being serviced through the company’s manufacturing facility in China. However, Create Medic has outlined long-term plans to establish a manufacturing base in India, which could also serve as a supply hub for the Indian subcontinent and African markets.

The company already supplies products to several leading healthcare institutions in India, including Tata Memorial Hospitals in Mumbai and Kolkata, AIIMS and Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in New Delhi, HCG Cancer Hospital in Bengaluru, PGIMS in Chandigarh, Apollo Proton Centre and Adyar Cancer Institute in Chennai, and Christian Medical College in Vellore.

Mr. Katsuaki Yamane, Managing Director of Create Medic India, said the company aims to collaborate closely with Indian doctors to develop India-specific medical solutions and foster local innovation. “We plan to invest ₹20 crore over the next two to three years, followed by an additional ₹100 crore as we move towards setting up a manufacturing facility,” he added.

Create Medic currently manufactures over 100 medical products globally. In India, the company will initially focus on key offerings such as the CLINY PEG kit, used for enteral feeding in patients unable to consume food orally, which has already been adopted in more than 20 facilities since June 2023.

Other products include gastrostomy replacement catheters for feeding and medication delivery, microcatheter kits widely used in interventional radiology for embolization procedures, and SB tubes designed to control bleeding from esophageal and gastric varices. Notably, the SB tube has seen unique adoption in India, where it is commonly used in emergency and intensive care units.

With its strategic entry and planned investments, Create Medic aims to strengthen its footprint in India’s fast-evolving medical device sector while contributing to improved patient care and clinical outcomes.
