A key highlight of the partnership is the joint development of research workflows, assays, and applications tailored to address India-specific disease burdens, particularly diabetes and related metabolic conditions. By integrating genomics with other omics disciplines, the collaboration aims to generate comprehensive datasets that will support more informed and impactful research outcomes.

The agreement also places strong emphasis on capacity building through skilling and training initiatives. Plans include workshops, hands-on training programmes, and knowledge-sharing sessions for researchers, clinicians, and students, aimed at enhancing expertise in next-generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and data interpretation. Additionally, Premas Life Sciences will support MDRF in facilitating strategic industry–academia collaborations with relevant partners.

Both organisations will also collaborate on scientific outreach and awareness initiatives to engage the broader medical and research community, promoting the adoption of genomics in healthcare and research.
“At MDRF, we are committed to integrating cutting-edge technologies with clinical research to better understand and manage complex diseases such as diabetes,” said Dr. V. Mohan, Chairman, MDRF.

“This collaboration marks an important step in advancing genomics-driven research in India,” said Dr. Radha Venkatesan, Head of Genomics, MDRF. “By working closely with Premas Life Sciences, we aim to create impactful solutions that are relevant to our population,” added Dr. R. M. Anjana, President, MDRF.

“Our focus has always been to enable access to advanced genomics technologies and build strong scientific ecosystems in India,” said Mr. Praveen Gupta, Managing Director, Premas Life Sciences. “This partnership reflects a shared vision of driving innovation through multi-omics, collaborative development, and continuous skilling of the research community.”

MDRF and Premas Life Sciences will continue to collaborate with academic institutions, healthcare providers, and researchers to strengthen the adoption of genomics and multi-omics approaches across the country.
