Philips and Apollo Hospitals Sign MoU to Advance Stroke and Structural Heart Care in India

Chennai/New Delhi, February 19, 2026: Philips, a global leader in health technology, and Apollo Hospitals, one of India’s most trusted healthcare providers, have signed a non-exclusive Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to explore potential initiatives aimed at strengthening stroke care and structural heart disease management across the country. Any specific projects under the collaboration will be subject to definitive agreements and necessary approvals.

Philips and Apollo Hospitals Sign MoU to Advance Stroke and Structural Heart Care in India

Under the MoU, the two organisations intend to enhance technology-enabled care pathways grounded in real-world clinical practice. By combining Philips’ advanced imaging and image-guided therapy capabilities with Apollo’s clinical expertise, the collaboration seeks to support integrated decision-making across diagnosis and intervention—particularly in complex, time-sensitive scenarios.

The partnership comes at a critical time for India’s healthcare system. According to The Lancet Neurology, India recorded over 1.25 million new stroke cases in 2021—nearly double the number reported in 1990—reflecting a sharp rise in incidence and prevalence over the past three decades. Cardiovascular diseases now account for nearly one-third of all deaths in the country, as per the Registrar General of India. These trends underscore the urgent need for integrated, technology-driven approaches to diagnosis, intervention, and long-term management.

Roy Jakobs, CEO of Philips, said the collaboration aims to leverage the company’s global platforms in advanced imaging and image-guided therapies to help shape more resilient, data-driven care pathways, enabling earlier intervention, improved precision, and sustainable patient outcomes at scale.

Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, Founder and Chairman of Apollo Hospitals Group, emphasised that integrating advanced technology with clinical expertise is essential to address India’s growing healthcare complexity. He noted that the collaboration would combine Apollo’s legacy of clinical excellence with Philips’ AI-enabled imaging solutions to strengthen stroke and structural heart pathways, enhance procedural precision, and support faster recovery and discharge.

The MoU was signed by Roy Jakobs and Shobana Kamineni, Executive Vice Chairperson, Apollo Health Co Ltd., in the presence of Dr. Prathap C. Reddy.

The agreement focuses on two key clinical areas. In structural heart disease, initiatives aim to improve procedural accuracy, optimise contrast usage, and strengthen real-time imaging guidance. In stroke care, the collaboration seeks to accelerate imaging workflows and streamline patient pathways to enable intervention within the “golden hour,” reduce door-to-needle time, and support timely, consistent care when every minute matters.
