B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology Holds 15th Convocation Ceremony

Chennai, January 11, 2026: B. S. Abdur Rahman Crescent Institute of Science and Technology (BSACIST) marked a significant academic milestone with the successful conduct of its 15th Convocation at its campus today. The ceremony celebrated the achievements of 2,991 graduands, comprising 65 Ph.D. scholars, 774 postgraduate students, and 2,152 undergraduate students.


In recognition of academic excellence, 63 students were awarded Gold Medals, including 38 from undergraduate programmes and 25 from postgraduate programmes. While 759 graduands received their degrees in person, 2,232 students participated in the convocation through the online mode, reflecting the institution’s inclusive and adaptive approach.

Degrees were conferred by Dr. Govi. Chezhiaan, Honourable Minister for Higher Education, Government of Tamil Nadu, who was the Chief Guest for the occasion. Dr. Jinnah Rafiq Ahmed, Executive Chairman, Kothari Industrial Corporation Ltd., attended as the Guest of Honour and delivered a special address.

The ceremony was graced by several dignitaries, including BSACIST Chancellor Mrs. Qurrath Jameela, Pro Chancellor Mr. Abdul Qadir A. Rahman Buhari, Vice Chancellor (i/c) Dr. A. Peer Mohamed, Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. N. Thajuddin, Registrar Dr. N. Raja Hussain, Members of the Executive Council, and Controller of Examinations Dr. S. Kaja Mohideen.

A defining moment of the convocation was the address by Dr. Govi. Chezhiaan, who drew inspiration from the enduring legacy of the institution’s Founder, Dr. B. S. Abdur Rahman. Highlighting Crescent’s strong commitment to women’s empowerment through education, the Minister remarked in Tamil that Crescent is transforming the long-cherished vision of women’s liberation into reality. He emphasised that the institution is not merely imparting education, but nurturing empowered women leaders and changemakers.

Aligning Crescent’s mission with the vision of the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Dr. Chezhiaan underscored the State’s leadership in inclusive education, social equity, and women-centric development, positioning Tamil Nadu as a national and global benchmark. He also announced the academic milestones of the day—63 Gold Medallists, 65 Doctoral Scholars, 754 Postgraduate students, and a total of 2,985 graduands—calling it a testament to Crescent’s academic depth and nation-building role.

Concluding his address, the Honourable Minister urged the graduating students, especially women, to lead with confidence, responsibility, and purpose, reaffirming that education remains the true force behind progress and empowerment.
