Velavan Senthilkumar and Anahat Singh Lift Titles at HCL Squash Indian Tour Chennai

Chennai, December 05, 2025: The Chennai leg of the HCL Squash Indian Tour 2025, a PSA Challenger event, concluded today at the Indian Squash Academy after five days of intense competition featuring players from 11 countries. Thiru V. Manikandan, District Revenue Officer and General Manager (Admin), SDAT, graced the finale as Chief Guest.

In the women’s final, India’s Anahat Singh clinched a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Joshna Chinappa, closing the match with sharp movement and steady composure. In the men’s category, Velavan Senthilkumar delivered a commanding 3-1 win against Egypt’s Adam Hawal, impressing the home crowd with pace and tactical clarity.

The PSA-sanctioned event carried a prize purse of USD 15,000 each for both men’s and women’s categories, offering crucial ranking points for players targeting higher international standings.

Commenting on the tournament, Rajat Chandolia, AVP & Head – Brand Strategy, HCL Group, said the Chennai leg strengthened the momentum of this year’s Tour and reinforced HCL’s commitment to helping Indian athletes progress towards global platforms, including the 2028 Olympics. Cyrus Poncha, Secretary General, SRFI, highlighted the Tour’s role in giving young Indian players essential exposure and ranking opportunities, supported by HCL and SAI.

With earlier editions held in Jaipur, Mumbai and Bengaluru, the multi-city Tour continues to raise the level of competition and nurture emerging champions. Supported by HCL, SRFI, SAI and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, the initiative is shaping India’s next generation of squash athletes.

To date, HCL and SRFI have jointly hosted over 40 tournaments, benefitting more than 1,000 Indian players and helping many transition to the PSA World Tour.
