Kauvery Hospital, Chennai marks success of its 4½-Hour Stroke Reversal Program on World Stroke Day 2025

Over the past two years, Kauvery’s stroke teams across Chennai have managed 956 stroke cases. Of these, over 120 patients arrived within the 4½-hour “golden window,” and 82+ achieved complete stroke reversal — meaning blood flow was restored before lasting damage occurred.

“When a stroke happens, every minute counts,” says Dr. Periakaruppan, Interventional Radiologist, Kauvery Hospital, Vadapalani. “When patients reach us quickly, we can not only save their life but also their ability to speak, move, and live independently.”

A stroke occurs when blood flow to the brain is interrupted. The first 4½ hours are crucial — during this window, doctors can dissolve or remove the clot and prevent permanent loss of brain function.

“Stroke treatment is all about precision and teamwork,” adds Dr. G. Satheesh, Senior Consultant & Clinical Lead, Interventional Radiologist (Neuro), Kauvery Hospital, Radial Road. “When patients arrive on time, recovery can be complete — minutes truly decide destiny.”

With round-the-clock Stroke Reversal Units at Alwarpet, Vadapalani, and Radial Road, Kauvery Hospital combines advanced imaging, interventional technology, and a multidisciplinary team for rapid stroke care.

“We’ve seen patients walk, talk, and return to their families because they reached us in time,” says Dr. Sathya Narayanan R., Interventional Radiologist, Alwarpet. Kauvery Hospital also drives community awareness to help Chennai residents recognize stroke symptoms early and seek immediate care.

“This is our commitment to Chennai — to act fast, treat right, and give life back,” says Dr. Aravindan Selvaraj, Co-Founder & Executive Director, Kauvery Group of Hospitals. “If every citizen can recognize the signs and reach a stroke-ready hospital quickly, we can save countless lives.”
