A.M. Jain College Attempts Virtue Book of World Records with 6,000 Students on 122nd Founder’s Day

Chennai, 31 August 2024: A.M. Jain College, a leading educational institution in Chennai, attempted a historic world record today, as they celebrate their 122nd Founder’s Day. In a grand display of unity and literary appreciation, over 6,000 students from the college came together to read a selected collection of poems within 15 minutes, aiming to secure a place in the Virtue Book of World Records. The event also had a mosaic formation of AMJ, by the college students.

The event featured the collective reading of eight poems, chosen for their inspirational and timeless themes. Seven of these poems are classic pieces from English literature, known for their motivational and uplifting messages. The eighth poem, titled Tribute to a Visionary, is a special homage to the Founder of A.M. Jain College. This poem was penned by the staff of the Department of English. It is a heartfelt expression of the college’s respect and admiration for its Founder, encapsulating the values and vision that have guided the institution since its inception.

Speaking about this significant event, Hemant Chordia, Associate Secretary of A.M. Jain College, stated, “This world record attempt is more than just a celebration of our founder; it is a demonstration of our collective spirit and dedication to excellence. Each of these poems has been chosen for its power to inspire and motivate, reflecting the ethos of our institution. We are proud to see our students come together in such a meaningful way to honour our college's legacy."

Don't Quit - Edgar Albert Guest, Hope is the Thing with Feathers - Emily Dickinson, This Too Shall Pass - Helen Steiner Rice, Try Try Again - William Edward Hickson, See It Through - Edgar Albert Guest are some of the poems recited during the record attempt. 

The tribute serves as a bridge between the college’s storied past and its promising future. As A.M. Jain College honours its legacy with this historic event, the world record attempt reaffirms its commitment to fostering the qualities of resilience, hope, and ambition in every student who walks through its doors.
